There are between 3 and 5 million Ukrainian migrants abroad. This assessment was given by the director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research M.V. Ptuhi of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ella Libanova during the Ukraine 30 forum on Tuesday, July 20.
She named not only the financial issue, among the reasons for migration, but also inequality between countries and regions.
“I don’t agree that most of our people go because of low wages, they say so. But when you start doing an in-depth interview with them, you realize that people are going because they don’t just see their destiny in this country, they do not see the future of Ukraine. They do not see that Ukraine will be a country like Poland or the Czech Republic, “she explained.
About 1.5 million Ukrainians currently work in Poland, as Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia said during the forum. At the same time, the number of Ukrainian labor migrants in Poland has doubled or tripled since 2014.
