During his official visit to the Republic of Turkey, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took part in the ceremony of opening the Consulate of Ukraine in Antalya.
“I am very glad to be here today because I am the first President of Ukraine who comes to Antalya on the occasion of such an outstanding event – the opening of the Ukrainian Consulate in Antalya. Look how modern and beautiful it is. This is a symbol of the fact that this is one of the first priorities for the Ukrainian state,” Petro Poroshenko said.
The Head of State noted that more than 1.3 million Ukrainians visit Turkey every year, more than 800 thousand of whom come to Antalya. He also noted that the local community of Ukrainians amounts to more than 35 thousand.
“That is why, when we adopted the law “On Diplomatic Service”, when we outlined priorities for the Ukrainian diplomats, whose are no less responsible for the preservation of Ukraine than Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline, we said that they should defend Ukraine around the world. Ukraine and Ukrainians,” the President said.
The Head of State emphasized: “Every Ukrainian arriving in Turkey, Antalya, should feel the state’s concern. Every Ukrainian living in Antalya should feel the state’s concern”.
The President stressed the importance of opening the Consulate, since not only tourists come to Antalya for holidays. Also a large number of international summits take place here and Ukrainian diplomats will be able to take an active part in such events.
“I want to congratulate everyone on the opening of our consulate. I am grateful to the Ukrainian community for being so fantastic, for keeping Ukraine in your heart, for raising this love in our little Ukrainians,” Petro Poroshenko addressed the audience.
“Thank you for the fact that we are all together, thank you for jointly defending Ukraine. Thank you for all of our efforts to strengthen friendship between Ukraine and Turkey,” the President added.
